End-End

December 30, 2010

End of the year also marked the end of my first job; I resigned, that is. I have been talking of this for some time now and the moment just arrived. It was as hard as I imagined it to be because if there's one thing that makes me jerk all the tears off my eyes, it will be anything that has to do with 'leaving'. They (my team mates) gave me parting words which I never thought I have really made them feel somehow. They're just pure awesome people and if I have no future to worry about, I'll stick with them. They made me cry loads for my last shift in the floor. I know it doesn't end there because what we had is a friendship for keeps. :)

A small farewell party they gave me. Food: Amber.

A December Outing (Late Post)

This actually happened last December 12. It was an outing almost a month in the making, so there were quite a few issues that happened along the way but even though, it pushed through and we all had fun. :)

There were options at the beginning but we ended to be city-bound still (though there were out-of-town places in the choices).

A resort within a village somewhere in Fairview, QC.

Random activities:

Videoke! :)

Jamming Session. JM on guitars.

Lunch time!

Dropped by Robinson's to buy stuffs. Jhe got a henna when we saw one.

Swimming!

Dinner at Bulalo Fiesta. We lied about Jerome celebrating his birthday that day so the stand-up comedians came over our 'kubo' to greet him. It was actually Big Mouth (a contestant in Pilipinas Got Talent) that came down to see him. Laugh trip as usual.

The boys with TM, Jhe and I didn't sleep at once when we got back to the resort, instead we drank a bit of the wine Kent brought. The next day, it was breakfast together then time to go home but then ended up strolling at SM Fairview before really heading home. :)

My Sideline. I've done this to 3 persons that morning.

Breakfast.

Toy Kingdom SM Fairview. :)

Cute shirt from Artwork. :)

Til next outing guise. Bora? :) Haha. Though I'm not working with you anymore. I'm still part of the team right?

One of the Lasts

And since there'll be barely a month before I say goodbye to them (for good), I'm taking every opportunity to be with them. Even if it means not sleeping and spending my savings. :)

First stop: church! It's a Sunday so there were quite a number of people which left us standing inside since we arrived at the Shrine of Jesus just in time for the 9AM mass. Then off to eat at KFC then to the movies - Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1! :)

A Farewell Too Soon?

It's almost 5AM and I'm still wide awake, accompanied by the soft music of our neighbor. This has been my body clock for months now since I got that call center job - my first ever job. Lucky me, no shift for today because of a holiday in Canada, and we're not allowed to makes calls.

Speaking of this job, I'll now confess that my stay there is doomed. I mean, it has always been. :) I never really planned to stay long in there. I don't like the idea of getting a different career besides the one that I have studied for. I feel that the longer I stay there, the more I'm withdrawing myself to my real profession. I have nothing against being an agent but I don't think it's what I really want.

My trainer once said "The job will always want to make you quit but the people will make you stay." True enough, it's only the friends I've made in the company that's making me stay. But I know I have to give up some things and I know they'll understand. They are also the ones who's advising me not to stay in there for long, knowing there's a brighter future for me outside. I'll miss you Team MBNA, Team Ethel. :/

Of Faith and Dengue

She's this woman slowly unfolding in front of me. I realized that night, you cannot really know everything in a person; much more, they are not who you thought they are.

It's almost a month since I met her. At that time, all I knew was that she likes to wear a white top, black pants, with red nails, headband, and bag and that she's the only trainer in our account. Days passed and I got to know more about her. She mentioned that she has a boyfriend but in one of our activities she argued that she doesn't believe in marriage. No wonder why a supposed-to-be-married woman like her is still single in the civil status. Aside from those revelations, I learned that she's this perky but moody type of person. She's accommodating but a bit intimidating. And most of all she laughs carelessly that you wouldn't get a hint that she's going through something.

After a week, we got the chance to stay in the production floor and there we saw her station. What caught our eyes is the picture of a cute little girl in her workplace. One of my co-trainees had the guts to ask if she's her daughter. She answered a yes. And my co-trainee followed up with a question of how old is she, she answered "She's five."

One night after the 15-minute break, one of her previous trainees, who happened to be studying in a seminary before, approached her and talked about something outside of work. I was stationed just in front of her so I got to hear everything. After a few minutes, their topic switched to something that made her burst out saying "Walang D'yos. Kung may D'yos hindi sana namatay ang anak ko. Wag mo kong piliting maniwala."

I was shocked with what I heard. I suddenly remembered the pictures on her station and tried to understand that the cute little girl in those photos is already dead. And that what she meant with "she's five" is "she WAS five".

A lot of questions clouded my mind; did it happen way long ago because she seems to be coping up well now, what is the reason for the kid's death that it has to come to the point of losing her faith.

These were answered a few days after the incident happened. One of our boss who's close to her told the story to one of my co-trainees. The kid just died about 5 months ago because of Dengue. Everyone thinks she's going to resign that time but she didn't. I bet she's strong enough not to; she raised the little girl alone as a single mom.

I know you are more than your name, Reverie.

Twisted 21

What a day to end the foundation training of our wave (wave 21). Our last day was supposed to be just a phone simulation test, then the announcement of who are those who made it for the 75% requirement, then contract signing in QC.

But nothing happened as we have expected it to be. There were business issues that arose and the sad news kept coming.
1. Only 5 will be pushing through the original account. Meaning, our wave will be divided to different accounts. :(
2. They canceled the phone-si test realizing that the news would really
affect that test.
3. Surprised interview for everyone by people of other accounts (back-up accounts for those who'll not make it to the 5).
4. After canceling the test, now they're saying the test cannot not continue. So yeah, we still did that 'ring-ring' thing.
5. A close friend should have been with me in the original account but she cannot get her NBI clearance under married name. :(
6. 4 are still left with no accounts though they passed the foundation training. They still have to wait, in that case. :( 2 didn't pass the foundation training. :( While 5 needs to complete their requirements first before knowing what they need to do next.

Despite all these, everyone is still positive, which I really like with this new found friends. They made me appreciate how lucky I am with my life and they are the living proofs that stories in TV really happens. ;)

And by the way, I topped the wave in terms of the grade. :) But Perry didn't gave me a prize like he promised to. Maybe 'cause he was also drained from all the news and it really showed in his aura; take into consideration that we're his FIRST training class, and all of that happened, poor Perry. :P

Work?

Seems like I'm back to school again. I'm currently on my training as a call center agent for a company just near our place. Today, we've just finished the third day of our foundation training, and that's 6AM to 2 PM. It's all about the english language for this week; grammar, pronunciation, diction, intonation, liaisons, etc. Nothing really special had happened so far after the board exams. I've made new friends out of the application processes and now the training, though.

I'm enjoying this so far. Compared to bumming in the house, this better eat up my time because we're paid for the training. Hihi. The best thing with the company, you get a free meal for your shift. So that's really a great help. specially if you're saving up. Instead of the almost a hundred worth of meal if you'll be eating outside, you only get to allot your money for transpo. Another thing with the meal, we also don't get to spend much on the junk foods because our trainer Perry gives out prices for the activities. And so far, the group I belong in swept all of it.

So there, I know how lame this post is. :) My apologies but nothing really interesting has happened. And please still pray for me to pass the board exams. Thank you!
